The Business Events Industry Coalition (BEICC) is starting the year off with a call to action. The Canadian Economic Impact Study 4.0 (CEIS 4.0) will be appearing in your inbox soon, and it's critically important for the industry to fill out the survey to reinforce how important the meetings and business events industry is to the Canadian economy.

This year, Professor Richard Wade and his graduating students of the Hospitality and Tourism Management program at Ryerson University will manage the survey deployment, evaluation and write the report for the BEICC. Deployment is scheduled for the later part of February 2016 and the CEIS 4.0 is scheduled for delivery to the BEICC in April.

The research methodology will remain the same as in previous studies, but will have a greater emphasis on regional data. Data collected in this new study will validate opportunities at a regional and municipal level and provide important economic data on the industry's contribution to GDP.

The last CEIS was produced in July 2014, with in-depth survey input from venue managers, DMOs, meeting planners, exhibitors, delegates and speakers. Over 3,400 completed surveys were utilized for the report. National in scope, the survey shines a spotlight on business event activities and the financial impact it has on provincial, regional and municipal economies.

Until the new study is released, the current CEIS 3.0 can be downloaded on the BEICC website.

MEETINGS + EVENTS
Secure Charging Stations
Keeping mobile devices charged and ready for use at events and trade shows is always an underlying concern for delegates. Brightbox is a custom charging kiosk station that handles the charge with built-in security for expensive mobile devices. A personal credit card opens an individual chamber in the kiosk to charge your device. The chamber lights up when the phone is charged, and the same card opens the lock. Planners can provide the stations as a free amenity or users can swipe a payment card of choice for the service. The kiosk offers universal Smartphone charging with dedicated 30-pin, Lightning and MicroUSB charging cables.

CORPORATE TRAVEL MANAGEMENT

Get the latest on 23 trending topics, from the sharing economy, enhanced travel services, car rental audits, real-time smart data and personalization, among others.
