The International Centre Announces Next Phase in its Renovation Plan
Mississauga, Ontario—The International Centre is excited to announce details of the next phase in its multi-million dollar transformation. In December 2017, The International Centre transitioned to new ownership and was purchased by Rice Group, a Canadian owned diversified investment company. Rice Group sees immense value in The International Centre and is committed to investing further in the business and position the company for long-term growth.
With over 500 events annually and as one of Canada’s leading trade & consumer show and conference centre venues, The International Centre will continue to focus on facility improvements to enhance client experience and making its space an enjoyable place to work and visit.
Facility renovations include:
Craft Eatery: Renovations will transform this permanent restaurant into a new, fresh, multifunctional space and incorporate sleek, contemporary furnishings and design elements. The renovations are underway and are slated to be completed by mid-fall. Along with the revitalized space, The International Centre has launched a new menu of hand-crafted, cooked to order cuisine with the freshest and highest quality local ingredients.
Conference Centre: Slated for completion by end of August, the 48,000 sq. ft. conference centre has begun a major renovation that includes installing new carpet and wallcoverings, new meeting room doors equipped with electronic locks with FOB access as well as an upgraded audio/visual system.
LED Lighting Retrofit: Continuing to demonstrate the importance of being a leading venue in sustainable practices, the facility will be replacing all lighting in Halls 1 to 5 to more efficient LED technology.
Food & Beverage: As part of The International Centre’s ongoing commitment of offering the best venue food & beverage experience in the GTA, our 8,000 sq. ft. kitchen will be equipped with new retherm ovens, state-of-the-art dish room and other related food service equipment allowing us to deliver the quality and consistency that our clients come to expect from our food & beverage team. Some of the projects are currently underway with the rest scheduled for completion by end of 2019.
Venue Infrastructure: The facility has been making a number of building and infrastructure improvements. Two of the largest have been a multi-year roof repair and replacement project, and the installation of a new freight elevator to provide clients and tenants with easier move in/out access. In addition, the facility will be making further upgrades to the HVAC system to allow for better climate control throughout the space.
Focused on providing our clients with superior service, these renovations will be scheduled to minimize any disruption to shows or events during the construction phase.
The over $4 million dollar renovation plan further showcases The International Centre’s commitment to being a sustainable environment while still maintaining the functionality and design esthetic of the venue space.
The International Centre will continue to be a huge economic and employment generator for the City of Mississauga, its local businesses and residents including surrounding hotels and restaurants, a multitude of service companies, show related support services, transportation providers – all of whom contribute to the ongoing success of The International Centre.
