-- Privately held loyalty and customer engagement company recognized for its strategy, capabilities, customer feedback, including ability to connect global strategy with local execution –
Toronto, ON (GLOBE NEWSWIRE)—Bond, the global, customer intelligence-driven engagement company, has been named a Leader in The Forrester Wave™: Loyalty Services, Q4 2026. Bond believes this recognition underscores its sustained performance and fifteen years of participation in the independent research firm’s evaluations. According to the report, “Bond’s solid vision is rooted in building growth and intelligence ecosystems for their clients to help them shift from ‘small L’ program loyalty to ‘big L’ brand loyalty.” Forrester also notes that Bond is “a strong fit for enterprises seeking a loyalty and CRM partner that blends intelligence, behavioral science, strategy, and execution across complex ecosystems,” and that customers praise Bond’s “ability to connect global strategy with local execution.”
“We believe this recognition reflects one simple truth: the customer relationship is the center of how brands grow. Customers don't see a difference between a loyalty program, and a brand's emails, app, employee interaction, or service, and neither should the brands that serve them,” said Morana Bakula, President & CEO, Bond. “Connected loyalty is bigger than points; it means growing lifetime value, keeping the best customers longer, and using what known customers reveal to find more customers like them. That is the work Forrester evaluated: loyalty, CRM, and customer intelligence operating as one growth engine, and, for us, it’s a perfect reflection of the value we aim to create for our clients.”
The Forrester Wave™ is Forrester’s evaluation of the top vendors in the market, based on a rigorous, transparent methodology that includes detailed questionnaires, executive briefings, case studies, and interviews with reference customers. The Loyalty Services, Q4 2026 evaluation assessed seven providers across their current offering and strategy. Among them, only two were named a Leader.
Bond continues to set the pace in the loyalty industry, broadening the definition to one that better reflects what customers value. “Loyalty at Bond has always been more than a points program; it’s a business growth strategy that connects customer intelligence, emotional engagement, and value creation. Being named a Leader in Loyalty Services adds to an already eventful year for Bond, and, we believe, speaks to our leadership, capabilities, and impact in the industry,” added Morana Bakula. Bond recently acquired Armadillo, a UK-based, award-winning CRM marketing agency, deepening its CRM craft and further expanding its European footprint to support global brands in building connected loyalty.
“Programmatic loyalty is under pressure from every angle: members are active in only half of the programs that they join, and that number hasn't moved in a decade,” added Sean Claessen, Chief Strategy Officer, Bond. “The next S-curve isn't more points. It's connectivity and intelligence… it’s a wider value exchange that makes loyalty relevant across more of a customer's life and feeds into everything from acquisition to retail media. That's the vision Forrester evaluated, and it's the work we're doing with clients every single day.”
Previously, Bond was recognized as a Strong Performer in The Forrester Wave™: Loyalty Platforms, Q4 2025 for its loyalty platform technology, making Bond one of the few companies that Forrester has assessed on both the technology and services sides of loyalty. Whether powering programs on its own platform or connecting the technologies that brands already own, Bond’s approach is the same: loyalty strategy and the systems that deliver it, working as one. The 2026 recognition as a Leader reaffirms Bond’s ability to help organizations achieve this

Collaboration enabled by Canadian Destination Leadership Council
Ottawa, ON—Destinations International (DI), the world's largest membership association for destination organizations, and the Tourism Industry Association of Canada (TIAC) this week announced a new strategic partnership aimed at strengthening collaboration and advocacy for Canada's destination organization sector.
The initiative was announced during Destinations International's Advocacy & Action: The Destination Impact Event, taking place October 20–22 in Ottawa, Ontario.
The partnership is expected to strengthen industry advocacy by supporting a coordinated approach to communicating the economic, social and community benefits of the visitor economy to policymakers and other stakeholders.
The Canadian Destinations Leadership Council (CDLC), which consists of representatives of DI's 70+ Canadian destination organization members, played a key role in shaping and enabling the partnership. The initiative addresses urgent advocacy issues identified and prioritized by the CDLC.
“Canada's destination organizations play a vital role in driving economic opportunity, supporting local businesses and enhancing quality of life in our communities,” said Nancy Small, CDME, CEO of Tourism Richmond and CDLC co-chair. “This partnership and its resulting collaboration will continue to highlight destination organizations' perspectives and priorities in national tourism discussions. By bringing together the collective expertise and influence of DI and TIAC, we can strengthen our advocacy efforts and help build a more resilient and competitive visitor economy across Canada.”
The partnership leverages the complementary expertise of Destinations International and Tourism Industry Association of Canada, while the CDLC's role in the partnership's design and implementation centers that the perspective and expertise of Canada's destination leaders. The partnership advances a shared commitment to advancing the economic and social contributions of the visitor economy to Canadian communities. By combining DI's global network, research and professional development resources with TIAC's national advocacy expertise and industry relationships, the collaboration will help strengthen the voice of Canada's destination organizations and the broader visitor economy.
The partnership will elevate the collective voice of destination organizations during TIAC's annual Hill Days and other advocacy initiatives throughout the year. DI and TIAC will also coordinate to release a series of messaging resources articulating the important role destination organizations play in advancing the travel and tourism industry and driving economic and social impact in communities across Canada.
“Canada is an important and growing part of the DI community, and this partnership reflects our shared commitment to supporting the people and organizations that drive its visitor economy,” said Don Welsh, president & CEO of Destinations International. “By combining TIAC's strong national advocacy voice with DI's global research, resources and professional development expertise, we can better support Canadian destination organizations, strengthen industry collaboration and demonstrate the essential role tourism plays in communities across the country.”
"When tourism leaders pull in the same direction, the whole sector moves faster," said Sébastien Benedict, president & CEO of the Tourism Industry Association of Canada. "This partnership is about unity of purpose: tourism creates jobs, draws investment and connects Canada to the world, and its potential is far from reached. By advocating together for the measures that unlock growth, we can help our industry deliver lasting value for the country and Canadians."
The announcement comes as Canada's visitor economy navigates an increasingly complex environment shaped by economic uncertainty, changing traveler expectations, workforce pressures and evolving relationships between tourism, government and local communities. These challenges underscore the importance of stronger partnerships and a unified approach to advancing the visitor economy's contributions to Canadian communities.
The partnership also reflects Destinations International's commitment to supporting Canadian destination organizations through its research, advocacy, education and professional development programs, as well as the ongoing work of the Canadian Destinations Leadership Council.

- Mr. Fuentes brings more than 20 years of international hospitality leadership to Canada’s Castle on the Coast -
Fifteen years of relationship-building, sector expertise and international partnerships are ensuring Canada's capital converts interest into future business
As the city celebrates winning URSI GASS 2032, Ottawa Tourism has reported a 50% increase in international association enquiries across the last year, as organisations take a fresh look at destinations that best match their priorities, budgets and appetite for risk.
The figure was revealed by Ottawa Tourism at IMEX America, alongside the Rogers Centre Ottawa, which this year marks 15 years since opening. The partners said the rise reflects a wider change in conversations with associations, as well as the outcome of 15 years of investment in research, international activity and long-term relationships.
Stephanie Seguin, Vice President, Sales, Business and Major Events at Ottawa Tourism, said: "We are having more conversations with associations that are looking carefully at how a destination will work for their delegates, their budgets and their wider objectives. A 50% increase is significant, but the important point is that Ottawa was ready for that interest. We have spent 15 years finding the right organisations, understanding their sectors and staying in touch, sometimes for many years before a bid is ready."
A particularly strong example is Ottawa's successful bid to host the International Union of Radio Science General Assembly and Scientific Symposium in 2032 (URSI GASS). The opportunity was first identified in 2013, by the time the congress arrives in 2032, 19 years will have passed since that lead was first identified, showing the patience often needed to win major international association business.
Prof. David G. Michelson, President of the Canadian National Committee of the International Union of Radio Science, said: “International congresses of this scale depend on the commitment of their national communities. The Canadian National Committee greatly appreciates the strong support that we received from Ottawa Tourism and its partners throughout the bid process as we assembled the local organizing committee and brought together the scientific backing and national support needed to make a compelling case for Canada, and as we presented the bid to URSI Council. We are delighted that the URSI Council has awarded the 2032 General Assembly and Scientific Symposium to Canada and look forward to welcoming colleagues from around the world to Ottawa. Because URSI is an international scientific union whose members are countries, we intend to take full advantage of Ottawa’s role as a G7 capital to make this a particularly impactful event.”
Ottawa said the changing geopolitical and economic climate is influencing destination decisions, but cautioned against attributing every enquiry to a single factor. Discussions with associations increasingly include the welcome delegates can expect, ease of access, cost, organisational values and the relevance of a destination's local expertise.
Canada's capital has built its approach around the sectors in which the city has credible strength, including software, information and communications technology, cybersecurity, engineering, life sciences, defence and security. Ottawa Tourism connects organisers with experts across government, academia and industry so that a congress can draw on the people and organisations already shaping work in its field.
Ottawa has also maintained an international association strategy that is unusual for a city of its size. Dedicated research, sustained activity in international markets and specialist association communications help the city identify opportunities early, understand the people behind them and maintain contact over long decision cycles.
Carly Grace, Vice President of Sales at Rogers Centre Ottawa, said: " Our 15th anniversary is an opportunity to reflect on what a sustained partnership can achieve. Organisers want confidence in the venue, the city and the people supporting them. When those pieces come together, first-time events can become advocates for Ottawa and create opportunities for further business in the same sector."
That local work is reinforced by Destination Canada through the International Convention Attraction Fund. The fund strengthens eligible Canadian bids for high-value international conferences and supports events that align with national economic priorities and deliver measurable benefits for host communities.
Ottawa's recent success in securing the International Institute of Municipal Clerks Annual Conference for 2029 shows that partnership in practice. Supported by ICAF, the conference is expected to bring around 1,000 delegates, generate 2,991 room nights and deliver an estimated CAD $2.8 million in economic impact.
Evidence from recent events is helping Ottawa address assumptions about bringing international delegates to Canada. These include the benefits of direct air services from London Heathrow, London Gatwick and Paris, more than 6,000 hotel rooms in the downtown area and a compact, walkable centre supporting straightforward event planning. For many international organisers, the Canadian dollar also allows budgets to stretch further.
Seguin concluded: "Association decisions are rarely won in a single conversation. The 50% rise in enquiries gives us momentum, but our focus remains the same: identify the right opportunities, build genuine relationships and show how Ottawa can help an association achieve what matters to its members. That is how the next 15 years of business will be built.

The Incentive Research Foundation (IRF) and the Society for Incentive Travel Excellence (SITE) today launched the 2026 Incentive Travel Index (ITI) at IMEX America. Produced with research partner Oxford Economics, the study draws on responses from 2,100 incentive travel professionals and examines how buyers and suppliers are adapting to geo-political instability, changing costs, destination priorities and new technology.
The headline picture is one of relative stability amid mounting pressures, with over 60% of respondents stating that geo-political instability is already disrupting the destinations they use. While average spend per person is up by almost 8%, year-on-year, 62% forecast their incentive travel activity for 2027 will be about the same as in 2026, while almost 26% predict an increase. Securing airlift and airline capacity has become a much more prominent near-term challenge, cited by 40% of US buyers compared with 12% in last year’s Index.
Destination decisions are also being shaped by access and confidence. Personal safety is the most commonly cited destination disqualifier among US buyers (53%), followed by difficult air access (42%) and geopolitical factors (31%). In a new question put to the full survey sample, 64% agree that recent political events will lead to a decline in inbound incentive travel to the United States.
The Index also finds that AI is becoming more embedded in programme planning: 80% of US buyers are using or planning to use it for destination research and planning, up from 58% in 2025. Further findings explore budget choices, the changing appeal of destinations, cross-border logistics and the relationship between incentive travel and wider employee experience strategies.
Stephanie Harris, President of the IRF, said: “The 2026 Index underscores that incentive travel program owners must make strategic choices at every stage of the program cycle. Those that use better data, work closely across partnerships, and keep the attendee at the center of decisions will be best positioned to demonstrate the value of incentive travel.”
Padraic Gilligan, Head of Consultancy and Research at SITE, said: “The value of incentive travel depends on delivering an experience people want to earn and can reach with confidence. This year’s Index gives our industry evidence to have more informed conversations with clients and destination partners about the choices behind a successful programme.”

The official groundbreaking marks a new milestone in Club Med's development in Canada and unveils the vision for a future four-season Resort combining mountain expertise, ski-in/ski-out access and the Laurentians lifestyle.
Mont-Tremblant, QC/CNW/—Club Med Tremblant reaches an important milestone today with its official groundbreaking ceremony, marking the start of construction on what will become Club Med's second mountain Resort in Canada. Scheduled to open in December 2028, the future Resort builds on the success of Club Med Québec Charlevoix, which opened in 2021, and further strengthens Club Med's presence in Canada. The pioneer of the all-inclusive vacation concept, Club Med, continues to expand its mountain offering across North America.
In the presence of Stéphane Maquaire, President and Chief Executive Officer of Club Med, and Carolyne Doyon, President and Chief Executive Officer of Club Med North America and the Caribbean, the ceremony, followed by a press conference at the Casino de Mont-Tremblant, marked the official start of construction. The event also provided an opportunity to unveil more details about the vision for the future Resort and the experience awaiting guests. Rémy Bourgeon, President of Alderan, and Patrice Malo, President and Chief Operating Officer at Station Mont-Tremblant, were also in attendance alongside other key project partners to mark this important milestone in bringing Club Med Tremblant to life.
This new milestone is part of Club Med's global mountain expansion strategy and further establishes North America as one of the brand's priority strategic regions. Recognized as one of North America's leading four-season mountain destinations, Tremblant offers an ideal setting for Club Med's premium all-inclusive vacation model, with strong appeal among travellers from Quebec, Ontario, the United States and international markets.
"Club Med is the pioneer of the all-inclusive vacation concept and the global leader in premium vacations and the only hospitality brand specializing in all-inclusive ski resorts. This unique expertise is one of the pillars of our development. Today, Club Med Tremblant fully aligns with our global strategy: an ambitious vision to make Club Med an iconic lifestyle brand and reach 100 Resorts by 2035. But above all, this growth is thoughtful growth. Sustainable growth. Growth rooted in exceptional destinations. And Tremblant is unquestionably one of them," said Stéphane Maquaire, President and Chief Executive Officer of Club Med.
Club Med's mountain expertise at the heart of Tremblant
Located on Versant Soleil, Club Med Tremblant will enjoy a prime location at the foot of the slopes, offering guests a ski-in/ski-out experience in the heart of one of the largest ski areas in Eastern North America. The future Resort will be fully immersed in the distinctive Tremblant experience, surrounded by the landscapes of the Laurentians, an energetic alpine atmosphere and proximity to its iconic pedestrian village.
Its arrival coincides with an important new phase in the development of Versant Soleil. Tremblant recently announced the development of Timber Summit, which will add 62 acres of skiable terrain, eight new trails and a high-speed quad chairlift beginning in winter 2027–2028. These investments will further enhance the ski experience and support the long-term development of this area of the mountain.
"Today, we mark the beginning of the construction of the new Club Med Tremblant, an important milestone in the evolution of Versant Soleil. Together with our $42.5 million investment in the Timber summit, this project will strengthen Tremblant's appeal and enhance the visitor experience. We are proud to count Club Med among the partners helping shape the future of our destination," said Patrice Malo, President and Chief Operating Officer at Station Mont-Tremblant
Club Med's Mountain Leadership
Club Med Tremblant will continue to bring decades of expertise developed across Club Med's mountain destinations around the world to Quebec. Designed as a destination where Tremblant's energy meets Club Med's all-inclusive experience, the future Resort will offer a premium experience that is warm, active and inviting, designed for both families and adults.
In winter, skiing and snowboarding will naturally be at the heart of the experience, with lessons and lift tickets included as part of Club Med's all-inclusive offering. During the warmer seasons, the Resort will offer a different way to discover the Laurentians through outdoor activities, wellness and immersion in nature, making Club Med Tremblant a true four-season destination.
The experience will also be brought to life through the warm, multicultural spirit of Club Med's iconic G.O.s, signature Kids Clubs and sports academies, as well as a culinary offering inspired in part by Quebec's local flavours and ingredients. Tremblant's vibrant and festive atmosphere will extend into the Resort through convivial moments and the spirit of après-ski.
The project will also feature an Exclusive Collection space, designed to offer a more intimate and personalized experience within the Resort. The vision for the space focuses on elevated comfort including upgraded amenities, priority access, private spaces and panoramic mountain views, all within a warm atmosphere inspired by the spirit of alpine retreats.
"Following the remarkable success of Club Med Québec Charlevoix, seeing a second resort take shape in our province today is a tremendous source of pride, not only for Club Med, but for Québec as well. Tremblant represents the next chapter in this success story. A story built on trust, strong partnerships, and a shared belief that Québec has an important role to play in the future of global tourism. Beyond creating approximately 300 direct jobs and hundreds more across the region, Club Med Tremblant will create opportunities for people, careers, and community growth." said Carolyne Doyon, President and Chief Executive Officer of Club Med North America and the Caribbean.
With Club Med Tremblant, Club Med continues to build on its Canadian presence, which began with the opening of Club Med Québec Charlevoix in 2021. Since opening, the Resort has welcomed more than 170,000 guests, demonstrating travellers' interest in premium all-inclusive mountain vacations in Canada.
A project rooted in its environment and community
Beyond the guest experience, Club Med Tremblant will contribute to the economic and tourism vitality of Mont-Tremblant and the Laurentians. The project is expected to create jobs through both its construction and operations, while supporting year-round tourism and fostering collaboration with local suppliers, outdoor sports networks and regional tourism organizations.
"This groundbreaking marks what the investments of French group Comète SCPI shareholders make possible: the development of a landmark project in Canada alongside Club Med. We are proud to play a role in bringing it to life and to take another significant step forward in Comète's international expansion," said Rémy Bourgeon, Alderan President
The Resort's design will also place significant emphasis on integrating harmoniously with Tremblant's natural environment. The landscaping strategy aims to restore and extend the existing forest cover, prioritizing native species characteristic of Mont-Tremblant. More than 61% of the property will be dedicated to green space, helping integrate the Resort into its surrounding natural landscape.
The project is also targeting LEEDGold certification for its construction and Green Globe certification for its operations, while incorporating objectives related to low-impact construction, reduced energy consumption and local sourcing.
With an opening planned for December 2028, Club Med Tremblant will mark a new chapter in Club Med's presence in Canada and its mountain development strategy across North America.

The Canadian Rockies retreat marks the second opening for Accor's distinctive luxury hotels and resorts, bringing the Emblems philosophy of intimate, character-rich hospitality to North America.
BANFF, ALBERTA—Rimrock Banff, Emblems Collection, has opened in Banff National Park, marking the North American debut of Emblems Collection, Accor's curated luxury collection. A longstanding Banff landmark, the resort has undergone an extensive transformation that reconnects it with its mountain setting, bringing the Emblems philosophy of intimate, character-rich hospitality to the Canadian Rockies.
Following its debut at Lucknam Park Hotel & Spa, a historic institution in the English countryside, Emblems Collection has chosen another established destination landmark for its second global opening. Rimrock Banff offers a gateway to the Canadian Rockies, reflecting the Collection's approach to celebrating properties with individual character and a distinctive sense of place.
“Rimrock Banff is a wonderful expression of the Emblems philosophy: an established property with a character of its own, deeply connected to its destination and reimagined through thoughtful design and highly personal service,” said Maud Bailly, CEO of Emblems Collection.“Its remarkable setting in Banff National Park and longstanding relationship with the Canadian Rockies make it a natural first North American address for the Collection. This opening marks an important milestone in our international development and brings our art of living to a new continent.”
RIMROCK BANFF: A NEW CHAPTER IN THE CANADIAN ROCKIES
Set within Banff National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Rimrock Banff is a sanctuary in the sky, surrounded by more than 2,500 square miles of protected wilderness. Built into the mountainside high above the town of Banff, the resort offers a distinctive perspective on the Canadian Rockies, where dramatic alpine landscapes meet a refined, residential sensibility.
Following an extensive reimagination, the resort has been shaped around a more intimate vision of mountain hospitality. Retaining its original architectural structure, the property has been extensively redesigned to reflect the Emblems philosophy. Its terraced architecture extends from the mountainside towards the Bow Valley, while expansive windows, natural materials and carefully framed sightlines continually connect guests to the landscape beyond.
“This resort, across the decades of its history, has always been defined by its remarkable setting,” said David Garcelon, General Manager, Rimrock Banff. “This transformation was guided by a simple philosophy: create a resort that feels inseparable from the landscape itself. Every design decision, every experience and every space was thoughtfully conceived to deepen guests' connection to Banff National Park and create a luxury offering that could only exist in Banff.”
“This transformation reflects both our commitment to invest in Canada and our stewardship of exceptional and irreplaceable hotels across the country. We recognize the unique privilege and responsibility that comes with owning landmark Canadian hotels that operate within Canada's National Parks and are focused on thoughtfully and sustainably investing in these properties to perserve their legacy and ensure they remain inspiring for future generations. The completion of Rimrock Banff's transformation marks an exciting new chapter for one of Canada's most iconic hospitality destinations. We are thrilled to partner with Accor to bring Emblems Collection to North America for the first time and realize a shared vision for this extraordinary destination.“ said Tyler Seaman, Executive Vice President Head of Canada at Oxford Properties.
ROOM & DESIGN
The resort's 320 guestrooms, including 57 suites, are designed around the surrounding views, with beds, seating and dedicated spaces for stillness positioned to keep the Canadian Rockies at the heart of every stay. Interiors draw on the colours and textures of the region through a nature-inspired palette, warm wood tones, natural stone and tactile textiles, creating spaces that combine contemporary comfort with a strong sense of place.
The resort's most exceptional accommodation, the Infinity Two-Bedroom Suite, opens onto a wraparound terrace of more than 1,260 square feet, complete with a barrel sauna, fire table and panoramic views across Banff National Park. Wellness Studio suites extend the resort's focus on restoration, offering movement and recovery amenities, wellness minibars, sleep-focused touches and access to the resort's Expeditions gear-lending programme.
WELLNESS & EXPERIENCES
Wellness is central to the Rimrock Banff experience. The 9,600-square-foot Bathhouse introduces Banff's first luxury hydrothermal wellness experience, with indoor and outdoor thermal environments including vitality and hot pools, a mountain-facing infinity pool, salt sauna, aromatic steam room and glacial cold plunges. A suspended meditation room and the Aurora sensory room offer more contemplative experiences inspired by the natural rhythms of the Canadian Rockies.
The Bathhouse is complemented by a 3,800-square-foot Active Centre featuring Technogym and Peloton equipment, climbing and bouldering walls, guided movement classes and recovery-focused offerings.
Through its Expeditions Centre, Rimrock Banff provides access to more than 50 seasonal activities spanning adventure, wellness, culture and nature. Led by the resort's Pathfinders, experiences include privately guided hikes, forest bathing, alpine yoga, canyon ice walks, Indigenous cultural encounters and excursions to the Athabasca Glacier. Each itinerary is designed to offer a more personal understanding of Banff's landscapes, communities and stories.
FOOD & BEVERAGE
The resort's culinary programme further expresses the character of the Canadian Rockies across four distinct venues. Parker's Table, the signature restaurant, celebrates Canada's North through seasonal cuisine and relationships with local farmers, fishers and foragers. Rimrock Social serves as the resort's central gathering place, while The Listening Room offers an intimate setting for rare spirits, fine wines and vinyl. Rimrock Market provides specialty coffee, curated provisions and a convivial, après-inspired atmosphere.
At Rimrock Banff, these experiences express the Emblems philosophy through the character of the Canadian Rockies, from locally inspired cuisine to personally curated encounters with the landscape.
THE EMBLEMS SIGNATURE, INTERPRETED AT RIMROCK BANFF
At every Emblems Collection hotel, a single locally inspired ingredient is honoured for its cultural resonance, bond with the land and harmony with the destination, becoming a golden thread through culinary creations, welcome rituals, wellness offerings and artisanal touches.
At Rimrock Banff, Alpine Honey serves as the Emblematic Ingredient. Selected for its relationship to the surrounding landscape and its longstanding associations with wellness, craftsmanship and hospitality, it is brought to life through a partnership with Highland Farm Honey, a family-owned Alberta producer. Guests encounter the ingredient in experiences ranging from the signature Alpine Honey Spritz arrival ritual and wellness tonics to a variety of culinary offerings.
Rimrock Banff also interprets the Emblems signature Travel Cake through its Emblematic Ingredient. The brand's Travel Cake was crafted in collaboration with acclaimed Korean pastry chef Yun Eunyoung, founder of Seoul-based Garuharu; each property creates its own expression of the destination.
Inspired by the forests of Banff National Park, Rimrock Banff's creation features pine needle cake layered with alpine honey ganache, translating the character of the Canadian Rockies into flavour and form.
At Rimrock Banff, Emblems Editions, the brand's signature literary collection, includes stories and perspectives from Indigenous peoples, pioneers and writers connected to Banff National Park. Each Emblems anthology brings together poetry, historical accounts, essays and voices connected to its setting, inviting guests to discover its history and landscape.
The Emblems Master of the House takes the form of the Master Pathfinder. Across the Collection, the Master of the House embodies its soul of service, offering attentive and intuitive hospitality before, during and after each stay.
The Master Pathfinder leads a team of Pathfinders in creating bespoke itineraries and meaningful encounters across Banff National Park. Bringing local knowledge and a personal understanding of the destination, they invite guests to experience the Canadian Rockies in ways that feel authentic, individual and deeply connected to place.

Victoria also places in the top three for destination management according to new Global Destination Sustainability Index
Victoria, B.C. —A highly regarded tourism industry index measuring the future sustainability of tourist destinations around the world has ranked Victoria, B.C. No. 1 among the world’s top small city tourism destinations, with a population of less than 200,000.
The Global Destination Sustainability (GDS) Index placed Victoria in first place among participating destinations, followed by Kerry, Ireland in second place and Luzern, Switzerland in third place.
Based on the criteria assessed for this year’s index, Victoria also ranked highly for destination management with a third-place score of 95.89, close behind second place Helsinki, Finland (96.58) and Montreal in first place (97.95).
“Victoria’s outstanding recognition in this year’s GDS Index is a remarkable achievement reflective of DGV’s destination management excellence,” said Paul Nursey, CEO of Destination Greater Victoria. “The entire tourism and business community in Greater Victoria can take pride in this global recognition of DGV’s exceptional management standards.”
Victoria has also ranked 15th overall in the GDS Index global “Top 40” cities, cracking the top 20 for the first time. Victoria is also one of only three North American cities on the Top 40 list, behind Montreal (ninth) and ahead of Edmonton (39th).
The Top 40 ranking is based on sustainability leadership efforts across four key areas: Destination Management, Supplier, Social Progress, and Environmental Performance.
The exceptional results achieved in 2026 reflect the close collaboration between Destination Greater Victoria and the City of Victoria, as well as the shared commitment of industry partners, local government and the broader community to advancing long-term social and environmental sustainability. Victoria’s success is driven by a combination of factors that distinguish it from other destinations such as extensive cycling infrastructure, walkable neighbourhoods, a clean energy grid, a safe and reliable water supply, and comprehensive climate action initiatives. The destination also benefits from a tourism industry that has embraced sustainability, with a high proportion of local hotels holding recognized environmental certifications. Further strengthening Victoria’s leadership position is the carbon reduction efforts of the Biosphere Certified Victoria Conference Centre. Destination Greater Victoria’s own sustainability policies, strategies and ongoing capacity-building support for members have also contributed significantly to the destination’s strong performance.
Nursey credits Victoria’s success to local industry leaders who stimulated the first discussions years ago around achieving sustainability in a positive, additive, and business-like manner.
“This didn’t happen overnight,” said Nursey. “Our approach has been industry-led with people coming together, sharing ideas, challenging one another to do better and, most importantly, turning those conversations into action. Sustainability works best when it actually becomes part of how we do business, rather than something that occurs alongside it. Our successes in the latest GDS Index show what can happen when industry, our Destination Management Organization, government, and community partners work together around practical, achievable initiatives that create real impact.”
In 2025, DGV finalized a multi-faceted Sustainability Strategy aimed at ensuring Destination Greater Victoria is recognized as an international leader in sustainable tourism development and remains one of the top destinations in the world.
Part of this strategy includes DGV’s annual IMPACT Sustainability Travel & Tourism Summit in Victoria which marks its 10th year in January 2027 and has a high profile globally as a leading forum on sustainability and regenerative tourism developments.
Specific DGV sustainability programs include Tap Into Local which has established water bottle refill stations at hotels and other partner locations diverting 150,000 plastic water bottles annually from the waste stream, and its new comprehensive Circular Economy Strategy which focuses on optimizing resource use and minimizing waste.
Destination Greater Victoria has also been Biosphere Certified since 2023. Biosphere Certification is a third-party process that verifies DGV’a sustainability claims based directly on the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals. This certification helps DGV remain aligned with global sustainability goals through measurable success.

Montréal/CNW/—Tourisme Montréal has ranked No. 1 worldwide in destination management in the 2026 Global Destination Sustainability Index (GDS-Index), achieving a record score of 98%, an unprecedented performance on the international stage. This result helped propel Montréal from 20th to 9th rank worldwide among 81 participating destinations, bringing the city into the global Top 10 of the world's most sustainable destinations. This is the first time in the history of the GDS-Index that a city outside Europe has ranked first in this category.
"Achieving the world's top ranking in destination management is particularly meaningful for Tourisme Montréal, while Montréal's entry into the global Top 10 is a tremendous recognition for our city. This achievement reflects the work of our teams, our members and all of the stakeholders who contribute to the development of our destination. Our approach is grounded in a long-term vision, collaboration and a commitment to turning our ambitions into concrete action and generating positive impacts for residents, businesses and visitors," said Yves Lalumière, President and CEO of Tourisme Montréal.
Supporting our industry in turning ambition into action
Tourisme Montréal has strengthened its support for tourism businesses through GreenStep programs, training and financial assistance. Over the past two years, 17 organizations have obtained a certification recognized by the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC). More than 400 stakeholders have taken part in awareness-building, support and training initiatives focused on the destination's socio-ecological transition.
A destination development vision that goes beyond the environment
For Tourisme Montréal, more sustainable destination management goes beyond environmental considerations. It also means maximizing the positive impacts of tourism for residents, communities and the local economy.
This approach includes the annual measurement of residents' perceptions of tourism, social impact projects associated with conventions and events, collaborations with Tourisme Autochtone Québec and Kéroul, as well as the recovery of more than 200,000 food portions through the tourism industry's commitment to reducing food waste in partnership with La Tablée des Chefs.
The GDS-Index is a benchmarking tool that enables participating destinations to track their progress and identify areas where further efforts are needed. The assessment is based on 74 criteria across four key categories: environmental performance, social performance, supplier performance and destination management.

The region's culinary community gathers at Liberty Grand tonight for the unveiling of the 2026 Stars and other distinctions
Toronto/CNW/—Toronto's culinary community takes centre stage tonight at Liberty Grand as the newly awarded MICHELIN Stars and distinctions for 2026 are revealed. This year marks the fifth edition of the MICHELIN Guide Toronto & Region and the third to feature restaurants from outside of Toronto, highlighting the breadth and diversity of the regional culinary ecosystem. Attendance is by invitation only. Accredited media camera operators may arrive after 6 p.m., with the ceremony beginning at 7:15 p.m.
Culinary experiences remain a strong motivator for travel. Food-related activities ranked among the most popular experiences planned by travellers considering an Ontario trip in the next year, according to the Ontario Travel & Tourism Monthly. Travellers drawn to the region by its diverse food scene also spend across the visitor economy, from hotels and retail to theatres, sporting events, nightlife, museums, galleries and other cultural experiences. That spending benefits the broader economy, supporting jobs and generating labour income, while contributing tax revenues to all levels of government.
Toronto's diversity is at the heart of its food scene, with more than half of residents born outside of Canada. Recent brand research by Destination Toronto found that visitors see food and diversity as intrinsically connected in Toronto through the city's neighbourhoods. Chinese bao, Jamaican jerk chicken, Vietnamese pho, Armenian ghapama, Korean kimchi and Mexican al pastor are just a sampling of Toronto's expansive culinary scene, where refined dining and casual fare alike reflect the people and cultures that call the city home.
For additional context on the MICHELIN Guide Toronto & Region and for data on the impacts of culinary tourism, please see the accompanying fact sheet.
The MICHELIN Guide in North America
Michelin announced its first North American Guide in 2005 for New York. Guides have also been added in Chicago (2011); Washington, D.C. (2017); California (San Francisco in 2007, statewide 2019); Florida (Greater Miami, Orlando and Tampa in 2022, adding Greater Fort Lauderdale, The Palm Beaches and St. Pete-Clearwater in 2025, statewide in 2026); Toronto (2022); Vancouver (2022); Colorado (2023); Atlanta (2023), Mexico (2024), Texas (2024), Québec (2024), the American South (2025), Boston (2025), Philadelphia (2025), the Southwest (2026) and the American Great Lakes (2027).
About the MICHELIN Guide
Recognized globally for excellence and quality, the MICHELIN Guide offers a selection of world-class restaurants.
The MICHELIN Guide remains a reliable companion for any traveler seeking an unforgettable meal and hospitality experience. The Guide was first published in France at the turn of the 20th century to encourage the development of car mobility as well as tire sales by giving practical advice to motorists. Progressively, the Guide has specialized in restaurant and hotel recommendations. Michelin's inspectors still use the same criteria and manner of selection that were used by the inspectors in the very beginning.
The restaurant selections join the MICHELIN Guide selection of hotels, which features the most unique and exciting places to stay around the world. Visit the MICHELIN Guide website, or download the free app for iOS and Android, to discover every restaurant in the selection and book an amazing hotel.
Thanks to the rigorous MICHELIN Guide selection process that is applied independently and consistently in more than 60 destinations, the MICHELIN Guide has become an international benchmark in fine dining.
All restaurants in the Guide are recommended by Michelin's anonymous inspectors, who are trained to apply the same time-tested methods used by Michelin inspectors for many decades throughout the world. This ensures a uniform, international standard of excellence. As a further guarantee of complete objectivity, Michelin inspectors pay all their bills in full, and only the quality of the cuisine is evaluated.
To fully assess the quality of a restaurant, the inspectors apply five criteria defined by Michelin: product quality; mastery of cooking techniques; harmony of flavors; the personality of the chef as reflected in the cuisine; and consistency over time and across the entire menu. These criteria guarantee a consistent and fair selection so a Starred restaurant has the same value regardless of whether it is in Paris, New York or anywhere else in the world.
