Canada Day celebrations remind us of how lucky we are to live in this great country. From far and wide there is no shortage of great meeting spaces that showcase the best that this country has to offer. Here’s our picks of great spaces that highlight the best of what makes Canada so great.
Super Sights
Since we’re starting off with celebrations, there’s no better spot to view our nation’s capital than the Andaz Ottawa Byward Market bar, Copper Spirits and Sights. It’s the city’s tallest rooftop bar with amazing views of the city and especially of the iconic Parliament buildings and the Ottawa River. This great spot can be bought out for groups of 20 or more.
Awe Inspiring Nature
The revamped Banff Gondola is a must for taking in the Canadian Rockies. The summit building was completely rebuilt in 2016 and boasts breath-taking views of six mountain ranges. The Banff Gondola recently won the Corporate Outreach Award for its evening Stargazing program in conjunction with the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada, Calgary Centre (RASC). Volunteers from RASC introduce the night sky to visitors on top off the gondola summit, leaving them with a new appreciation of the beauty of the night sky untouched by urban development.
Take it to the Top
It’s hard to believe that Toronto’s CN Tower is 42 years old, and with that comes some fancy new renovations unveiled last week on the popular main observation floor. Newly installed floor-to-ceiling windows give a panoramic view of the city from all directions and were done with accessibility in mind. The CN Tower has also launched a new free Viewfinder App which shows a 360 degree view of the Toronto skyline and points to the city’s major landmarks.
Picasso on the Prairie
The striking Remai Modern art gallery commands stunning views of the South Saskatchewan River and prairie skies, plus the 11 galleries of modern and contemporary art. Home to the most comprehensive collection of Picasso linocuts in the world, Remai Modern’s mandate is to enable transformative experiences by connecting art with local and global communities. Hosting an event at the Remai Modern could mean gallery tours, hands-on art making, films or lectures.
