It's true that many people responsible for meetings and events commonly say they initially 'fell into' the job. For a few, that job blossoms into a true career passion, taking on an important organizational role to strategically bring people together. When its time to take your career to the next level, two of the most globally recognized senior accreditations for meetings professionals include the CMP certification, and the CMM program.
Certification in Meeting Management (CMM): The Global CMM program developed by Meeting Professionals International is the first university co-developed global professional designation for senior-level meeting professionals which focuses on strategic issues in the meeting industry. Attendees are led through exercises designed to promote strategic thinking, leadership and executive decision-making skills.
Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) Program: Developed by the Convention Industry Council and supported by more than two dozen member organizations, the CMP program recognizes people who have achieved the industry's highest standard of professionalism. Established in 1985, the CMP credential increases the proficiency of meeting professionals through continuing education and industry involvement. The requirements for certification are based on professional experience and a written exam. Currently, over 13,000 people in 35 countries and territories have earned the CMP designation.
