Even though most of us are taking summer vacations, business travel occurs every day, 12 months of the year. Here's a collage of corporate travel news to keep you in the loop during the dog days of summer.

Instant Reporting:

Thirty Carlson Wagonlit Travel clients are testing a new program that will transform travel reporting. The CWT AnalytIQs dashboard populates near real-time data (within 30 minutes of booking), constantly changing as each new transaction passes through the system. The dashboard shows client data from around the world, with the option to drill down into regions or countries. Companies can instantly compare their performance on key metrics with top performers and an area on the dashboard highlights where improvements can be made to drive future performance.

Airbnb/City Partner:

San Francisco is the first destination to formalize a relationship with the accommodation-sharing site, Airbnb. Together, the new partners will connect visitors to San Francisco neighbourhoods to experience the city like a local. Tourism toolkits will be created for local merchants, with unique content about communities, businesses and experiences in the city. Airbnb will be connected to meeting and event planners to achieve peak attendance during city-wide conventions and big events.

100 Best Moments:

In honour of its 100th anniversary, American Express Global Business Travel has curated a list of the 100 Business Travel Moments that changed history. Starting in 1915 and continuing through to 2015, each moment tells the story of a discovery, invention, expansion, idea or connection that changed business travel as we know it.

CORPORATE TRAVEL MANAGEMENT
Flight at the End of the Tunnel
It's longer than two football fields and it's finally open—the underground walkway tunnel to Toronto's Billy Bishop Airport. The tunnel is accessible by elevators on the mainland and opens to a central path flanked by four moving sidewalks travelling at 2.3 km per hour. A bronze sculpture of WWI flying ace, Billy Bishop, and other aviation artifacts grace either side of the tunnel. The walkway is an alternative to the 90-second ferry ride to the terminal that will still be in operation.

INCENTIVES + REWARDS
Future Flyers
It may seem like science fiction, but an article in the UK newspaper, The Independent, says Airbus has received a patent for a hypersonic aircraft that could cut the flight time between New York and London to about an hour. The French company says that the design incorporates two different types of jet motors and a rocket motor. In the patent application, the manufacturer envisions the jet will be principally for the VIP or business traveller.
