The corridor between Toronto and Niagara bypasses the city of Hamilton, which usually occasions a surreptitious glance westward as your car climbs over the Burlington Bay Skyway bridge. But the "City of Waterfalls" is worthy of a second look in terms of meetings and events. The downtown core is bustling with new builds: "renovation, revitalization and rejuvenation" come to mind when making Hamilton part of your planning repertoire. Check out some of these fabulous finds:

Noteworthy:
The former Canadian Pacific Railway Station is now home to Liuna Station, a grand venue for gala receptions or corporate events. The impressive façade of the historical building and manicured grounds lead into the restored Grand Lobby—perfect for cocktail receptions. Two ballrooms: the Grand Central and the King George showcase the same historical railway fretwork and grand woodwork and sumptuous details from a bygone era. |

Hidden Gem:
Movie star Charlie Hunnam just wrapped up filming at The Scottish Rite Club, a magnificent stately home to The Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry of Canada. Surrounded by lovely grounds and a de rigueur wrought iron fence, the former residence to the Tuckett family of Hamilton boasts a two-story banquet space for up to 270 guests, a cathedral with 50 ft. high vaulted ceilings (complete with jaw-dropping historical theatrical backdrops) and a Casavant Frères pipe organ. |

Further Afield:
Set amongst a waterfall and seemingly chiseled into the Niagara escarpment, the soothing ambiance of the Ancaster Old Mill ensures that a board retreat moves into another level. Five unique rooms and the skills of the Mill's top-rated chefs make this an elegant location for senior executives. |

|
Core developments:
In the heart of downtown, two new hotel builds Homewood Suites by Hilton and Staybridge Suites bring the total room capacity in the city to 1,485 while the Hamilton Convention Centre continues to renovate and rejuvenate with over $1 million in upgrades in the past year. |
