Hidden Gems: Cobble Beach Resort

A Nantucket-style retreat in the heart of northwestern Ontario is a charming surprise intimate groups will love to experience for meetings or incentive programs. Set on 574 acres just outside of Owen Sound on Georgian Bay, Cobble Beach Resort is a 10-room boutique-style inn, complete with award-winning golf course, spa and meeting facilities.

“It’s really an area of Ontario that not a lot of people are familiar with but it is really stunning and memorable, so it’s a great way to introduce your attendees to the area in addition to this great resort,” says Rob Weingust, marketing manager at Cobble Beach.

On-site for meetings, the 20-person Saugeen Board Room features a covered deck with views of Georgian Bay, complete with a wall-mounted 52-inch high-def monitor, high-speed Internet, conference call capabilities, tabletop microphones, sound system and podium. Two more meeting spaces can accommodate 20 and 30.

The onsite Sweetwater Restaurant & Bar can supply catering to all meeting rooms, and its dining room can accommodate up to 140 for dinner. Guest rooms feature crisp white sheets and Martha’s Vineyard inspired decor that’s fresh and modern. Room configurations are available to accommodate singles, doubles, foursomes or groups. Five deluxe suites for two and four lofted suites can accommodate two to eight people.

The par 72 golf course created by Doug Carrick was voted Best New Canadian Course in 2008 by Golf Digest, and for group golf outings comes complete with a personal event planner, real-time leaderboard scoring, GPS on each cart and complimentary use of practice facility and lockers. cobblebeach.com
