The crystal ball drops in Times Square, and the New Year begins! Ignite editor Laura Bickle looks forward to 2018 with this collection of the trends industry insiders will be utilizing this year.

Attendees are looking for interactive meeting space and hybrid room formats. They are also looking for more ways to connect with one another when at a conference with purposeful networking.

Pops of Colour:

Look for bright yellow, pink, orange and lime. The Benjamin Moore 2018 colour of the year is Caliente—a charismatic shade of red. Metallic neutrals are hot, as well as tinted mirrors and glass accents.

Conscious Foodies:

Groups are looking for smaller plates, food provenance and environmental impacts. Wellness cocktails will feature superfood ingredients and Korean food accents will take centre stage.

More Free Time:

Let your participants absorb, reflect and learn from one another without intrusion. You don’t have to schedule every last minute of the day.

MTCC South Building Reveal
The Metro Toronto Convention Centre hosted a recent open house to showcase the South Building makeover to guests and future clients. As part of a $23 million renovation plan, there are now eight new meeting rooms in the 600 Level. A newly refreshed registration area and modern see-through balconies overlook the 700 Level.

2018 Trends
The Association of Corporate Travel Executives is offering a complimentary one-hour virtual event with top travel managers to forecast what 2018 has in store. Participants will also hear what ACTE has planned for advocacy, research and education in the coming months. Non-members are also invited to register at no cost.

Top Airport Lounges
The world’s best airport lounges, from responses of over 72,000 guests, can be found in unexpected places. Lounges in Kingston, Jamaica, Tallinn, Estonia, Malta and Quebec City were voted the best in the world. The Priority Pass lounges feature local art, decor and food; some even have conference facilities for that one last meeting before a flight.
